The FORTNIGHTLY SQUARE

Nestled in the heart of the historic district in the town of Herndon Virginia and within walking distance from shopping, entertainment and the W&OD trail, the Fortnightly Square townhomes designed for local master builder Carr Homes are a proven winner. The buildings respond well to their sensitive in-fill location with careful attention to historic detailing and control of building mass. The units themselves are 24’ wide but are only 40’ deep with rear loaded garages tucked inconspicuously around back. At three stories with a fourth loft level that can be optioned into livable space these units range from 2,187 square feet up to 3,068 square feet with the loft option.

The units offer high ceilings and full width rear decks for outdoor entertaining.

The Dominion

The largest of the units at 2,370 square feet, The Dominion can be built as an interior unit or as an end unit. Shown here as an end unit, we are able to take advantage of additional space on the site by utilizing a side entry that translates into a bump out in the second floor dining room. The side entry on this unit helps to add an architectural entry feature on the side elevation that breaks down the scale of the building side elevations nicely.

Entering on the ground floor the foyer opens up to a recreation room and gallery that leads to the stairs to the second floor. The second floor is configured as the main living level with a living and dining room combined at the front of the home spanning the entire width of the unit offering a tremendous feeling of space. The back half of the unit is designed as a wide open family, kitchen, breakfast area that lives informally and again adds to the feeling of being in a single family home. The third floor is very flexible and can be had two ways. If you don’t want to add the finished loft space you can have the third floor configured with a total of three bedrooms including the laundry, a hall bath and the owner’s suite with a full fixture luxury bath. If you do decide to take the loft you can make the entire third floor into a very luxurious owner’s suite complete with split his and hers closets, an oversized spa bath and a large retreat off the bedroom. The loft level in this configuration includes two additional, large bedrooms and a shared bath.
